Improvers Lessons

Sandy has recently been kind enough to provide some 'Improvers' lessons at the club which have been very popular with members.  Sandy's notes have been reproduced here, as an aide memoire, together with some practice hands to illustrate each subject.  You can also play the hands yourself for a little extra practice.

 

Basic guidelines for counting and using 'losers'.
A convention predominantly used after a NT opening bid to show a holding of 5 cards in a major.
Notes on signals to indicate attitude, count, and suit preference to partner.
A conventional method of asking partner to bid his best suit.
A responders bid designed to find a 4-4 fit.
A conventional defence method, designed to show a two suited hand with one bid.
Using Landy as a defence against oponents weak 1NT opening bid.
